Spotify Playlist: Nostalgia

Welcome to a little bonus blog post! I was hanging out with a friend the other day and we decided to pop some music on, and somehow we went down a rabbit hole of visiting some songs that brought back all the feels and memories from my teenage years.

I used to watch/listen to these songs while I was in school, and loved watching the videos that went with them. I used to watch these videos on Kerrang! TV, and it was so nice to watch and hear some of these songs again, especially after not hearing them for a good number of years!

I don’t really know what this blog post is to be honest, I just know I wanted to share this playlist with you guys, and I’d love to know what you think, and if you like these songs too, or where were you in your life when these songs were doing the rounds?

I’ll be back with another blog post for you guys on Monday! I’m trying to keep a regular schedule with you guys, giving you at least one blog post a week, and then sharing any bonus content (like this post) on maybe a Thursday or Friday!

🙂

Great Scott, Batman! A book blog post! Yes, it has indeed been a hot minute since I made a book related blog post! The reason for that, up until recently I actually hadn’t read any books since that last book blog post. Continue reading Recently Read || April Edition

Am I Content With My Content?

Alternative Title:  I Don’t Like My Content — A Response to Grace Helbig

Hey everyone! Yes, it’s me, I know it’s been a hot minute since I last posted here on the blog–to be honest, it’s been a hot minute since I posted anything anywhere other than on my Instagram (@dean.kealy). Even my poor art Insta and blog has been neglected recently.

I’ve been itching to getting back on here, but not sure as to what sort of content I wanted to share, or what sort of stuff you guys would want to see. If I’m completely honest, I kind of backed down from blogging because I got myself into the rut that I had to create content that you guys would want to see, so I would make a list of posts that I could potentially work on, but when it came to it, I didn’t want to make them, because that’s not the kind of content I like making.

Then, today, I saw a video by one of my favourite YouTuber’s, Grace Helbig, called “I Don’t Like My Content”, and I’ve never related so much to a video in more recent times. I recommend you watch it, because whether you’re a content creator, or someone who just watches other peoples content, it’s so frickin’ easy to get caught up in what people want to watch, that you forget why you create. For those of you who just watch, I urge that you watch the video to get a perspective on why your favourite content creator isn’t uploading all the old great videos or blog posts that they used to, because people change. You change, we change everyday, and sometimes we get bored.

Here’s the video link, and if you don’t watch Grace’s videos/don’t like her, skip to 3:40 and watch until 4:35 in the video to see where I most relate to and kind of where I’m at at the minute. Even if you watch the whole video, it gives an idea of a content creator struggling to defy the norm of creating what people want to see, and deciding to create something because they want to and love to do it, which is what I want to strive to do more of.

Idealistically I’d like to get back to creating a weekly blog post for here, and I’ve also neglected my art Instagram over the last few weeks, so I would very much like to get back to posting more regularly/frequently there too, so here’s hoping that by even writing this blog post that it will kick start me back into gear into doing just that!
Now I’m going to throw a question to you guys, well those of you who are still reading anyway:

Would you stop following a content creator/blogger/YouTuber because they changed they decided to change the type of content they were creating, or would you stick with them regardless, because you liked them as a creator/their personality more so than what they produce?

I’d also love to hear any other opinions on this that you might have, or what you thought of Grace’s video, feel free to let me know in the comments.

My Birthday Weekend

On Friday, February 1st, 2019 I turned 26. EEEeeewwwww!

To me, 26 means you’re an adult now. Yes, I know you’re technically an adult once you turn 18, but are you really? Even at 21, there’s something there about becoming an adult, but in my head 26 is the age where you’re meant to get ‘serious’ and start making ‘serious’ decisions etc. I’ll let you know how that goes…

Mam and Me on my birthday

For my birthday, I didn’t really do anything too major. The night of, me and the gang went out for celebration drinks, followed the next day by hangovers all around, which could only be cured by pizza!

On Sunday I had to go to work for a few hours, which was followed by finally getting to eat birthday cake and going out for dinner with one of my oldest friends.

Once all the celebrations were over, reality hit like a ton of bricks on Monday morning because I was as sick as a dog (as the expression goes)! I don’t know if it was the entire weekend catching up on me, or purely bad timing, but I got hit with a stomach bug which more or less just wiped the entire day out of existence for me, as I slept the majority of it away between bouts of illness (being polite for those of you with weak stomachs).

Regardless of that, I had a fantastic weekend, and I certainly am not one to let being ill for one day ruin the whole thing for me!

What about you? Do you enjoy celebrating your birthday? Do you consider yourself an adult?
